   I have defined a style:

   $US BIG column $%d

   which nicely formatted large currency values to look like $123,456,789

   Today with build 1591, I see that my thousands separators have disappeared: $123456789

   Any suggestions how to get my thousands separators back?

   this has been changed in latest build. If you want to keep the value unformatted, use %s.
